Business Forum puts Ottery on the Map image

In a new initiative from the Ottery St Mary Business Forum, a number of bright and beautiful maps have been put up in various locations in the town, aimed at informing visitors to the town about the breadth and depth of independent shops, cafe,s pubs and restaurants in the town, as well as some of the town’s wonderful heritage.

The map, part financed by Section 106 moneys from new developments in the town, includes a reference to every single trader in the town, and, through clever colour coding, will help visitors establish quickly and easily how to navigate the small Devon market town. A printed version of the same map, for people to pick up and use, will be available soon too. Matt Waite from local business Wall Art has designed, developed and printed the map.

Commenting on the initiative, local businessman Marc Perkins (owner Perkins Animal Health and member of the Business Forum) says: “Ottery has so much to offer to visitors, yet many often don’t realise the amount of great independently owned shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants, with some of them being somewhat out of the main town centre. We are hoping that this great new map will help these people in particular spend more time in the town, and of course more money too.”

Appreciating businesses change, with new ones opening and others closing or changing focus, the aim is to refresh the content of the maps once a year.
