A reminder to all of the activities taking place this Summer in our very own library

“Animal Agents” – Children’s Summer Reading Challenge, starts Saturday 15th July, running throughout the school holidays. This summer there’s something strange happening at the library – and that’s where the Animal Agents come in!

The Animal Agents love solving mysteries and they need YOU to help them crack their biggest case yet. Who has painted graffiti on the library wall? Why are things suddenly going missing? Join the Animal Agents for the Summer Reading Challenge 2017 and help them uncover the truth!

It’s free to join, so come along and take part in the investigations.

Songs and Stories – Friday 21st July from 9.30 to 9.55, for babies, toddlers and their “grown-ups”.

Cops and Robbers – Monday 14th August 11am. A fun event for children ages 4 plus.  Come along and be finger-printed and have your “mug shot” taken, (subject to parental approval) by Maria Clapp, popular local PCSO. Try on a police uniform and take away some freebies too. Also, make a “cat burglar” mask to take home.

Limited number of FREE tickets available from 15th July.

Evan’s Sensational Science Club – 3 sessions all starting at 11am.  Fun, science based sessions, aimed at children ages 9 plus, or younger children accompanied by an adult.

Thursday 17th August “Vivid Vision” – How we see colours, including odd facts about light and some cool optical illusions for you to take home with you.

Thursday 24th August “Splendid Sound”– About how musical instruments change pitch, will include making a few musical instruments of your own.

Thursday 31st August “Fantastic Forces” – Learn about buoyancy, thrust and weight, including what makes a plane fly. Make lots of fun physics toys to take home. (Probably not a full-sized plane!)

Each sessions runs for about 1 hour 15 minutes. A sign-up sheet will be at the Library from 6th July. You can sign up for all 3 or just the 1 session that appeals to you.

Cops and Robbers – Friday 1st September 10.30am. See above (14th August) for more details. Limited number of FREE tickets available from 5th August.

Watch out for some fun children’s competitions as well.

There will be prizes!
